How to read this manual¶
This manual serves the purpose of the right understanding of Planning Wizard tool and helps its users to manage it. The manual describes its design, all parts of the screens and also modules, that the system is built from.
The manual consists of:
- sections and subsections: these describe all parts of STOCK;
- description of modules: modules are the basic building blocks that deal with a specific problem.
Sections, subsections and modules are in a way linked to one another. The dependence between them are described in two ways:
- Modules necessary for the given section: For instance, if you want to manage supplies (i.e., if you want to see the set of modules in the section Supply management), the modules Service level settings and Safety stock must be on. These two modules are required for supply management.
- Dependent modules: in the section “Promotion analysis and promotion sales prediction” there is a module Cannibalization, that requires other modules to be allowed: “Calculation of past normal sales” and “Promotion sales prediction”. User has an option not to calculate cannibalization, so it is not a mandatory module in the section “Promotion analysis and promotion sales prediction” and Cannibalization is just a module that is dependent on mentioned modules of normal sales and promotion sales predictions.
Module description consists of:
- Executive summary, i.e. a view relevant for a manager: it sketches the issue the module sets out to solve and it shortly describes what and how is the issue rendered.
- Functional description, i.e. a description of module’s function: it explains the principles on which the module is based and it describes all of its parts. Most often, it is a description of one or more algorithms; there are settings (both for a database and a user) and display options of the module’s output.
- Technical description: this includes parts of information that is limited to the implementation team and describes more detailed modules settings and configuration.
- Extensions: this part gives a list of possible modules extensions, however they are present only at some modules. Extensions are not a standard parts of modules, but may be used for settings and later use.
